Caps Can Do® focuses exclusively on the need to recycle plastic bottle caps by collecting the #5 plastic caps from containers such as water and soda bottles, peanut butter jars and detergent bottles.
With the Caps Can Do® program, collection bins like the one seen here can be placed in high-traffic areas such as zoos, aquariums, wildlife centers and other parks across the country. As the bins fill up, they become an eye-catching attraction with the wide variety of multi-colored plastic caps that are collected for recycling.
People will be naturally drawn to the colorful bins and will want to know what they are all about. Once near the bins, they can learn about the harm littered plastic can do, learn the importance of recycling and of course, recycle their own bottle caps!
The three main goals of Caps Can Do® are:
- To help eliminate #5 plastic from the waste stream by recycling bottle caps
- To educate the public on the harm littered plastic caps can do to wildlife
- To turn a seldom recycled plastic into useful products
The Caps Can Do® clear collection bin becomes more colorful as it fills.
